Christian Non-Worshipers

leave a comment »

What are praise and worship leaders today doing to reach & engage non-worshipers?  Article after article, book after book surface telling us about the latest technology and software. Those of us who understand worship need little impetus to avail ourselves of current product offerings.

As a detail-oriented person who is interested in technology, I enjoy reading about and using modern gadgetry. I have no problem with some of the modern “features” being added in worship services. Where I become concerned is when the focus is on the people, making them comfortable, making everything easy for them; with little focus on God.

I have heard it said that worship is an expression of “worth” or value on who Jesus Christ is to us. If our actions cost us little or nothing, where is the value? What value then can be attributed to our worship? Making public declarations of faith in Jesus Christ often cost early believers their life. I hope that civilization today does not require a similar price to be paid today as it did back then.

So what is Christian worship? Is it a particular style of music, a genre? Is it a set of activities during a church service? What personal investment does it require? Is it acceptable to watch and observe? Could it be considered a lifestyle?

What would it take for you to consider reading a book that:

  • provides Scriptural evidence showing worship examples and results in personal and group settings

  • is an easy read with limited use of jargon

  • was self-published by an unknown (as far as the Christian Worship Music Industry is concerned) with a passion for worship with choir/ensemble/and worship leading experience

  • lacks endorsements from major Christian ministers/ministries (not because they weren’t provided a complimentary copy (to protect their privacy I won’t mention names but I guarantee you’d know them).
